Getter – Firepower Records http://firepowerrecords.com Tue, 21 Feb 2017 18:43:43 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 Firepower Records to Release Bear Grillz & Getter’s EDM Remixed http://firepowerrecords.com/firepower-records-to-release-bear-grillz-getters-edm-remixed/ http://firepowerrecords.com/firepower-records-to-release-bear-grillz-getters-edm-remixed/#respond Thu, 05 Nov 2015 14:17:40 +0000 http://firepowerrecords.com/?p=2163 LOS ANGELES (November 5, 2015) Bear Grillz might be having the best year ever. His track “Fuck Off”, which was produced as a collaborative project between him and Datsik, has charted on the Beatport Dubstep Top Ten for nearly 6 months, and held the number 1 spot for almost as long. From Datsik’s earth shattering Ninja Nation Tour to Excision’s upcoming Paradox tour, Bear Grillz is routinely crushing the biggest tour cycles of bass music’s biggest badasses.

Today, we are so stoked to announce the forthcoming release of Bear Grillz and Getter’s “EDM” remixed on November 27th, and the roster of talent that signed up for remixing duties is insane.

The Remixed collection contains four tracks, starting with a VIP cut of “EDM”. With heavy rotations on the club and festival circuits, the VIP pulls the original apart and reassembles it using a rounder, deeper, and more sustained sub-bass. The synth arrangement is focused and refined, and an added sinister melody cruises over the top. The result a super-clean version of the track that rolls crowds over before they even know what hits them.

Firepower’s main Dawg Protohype comes through with a massive take on “EDM”. Protohype has been busy pushing his style to the edges of the bass music universe, and that experimentation pays off here. The track toggles between Trap structures and traditional Dubstep influences, but it’s also a glimpse to the future of a non-genre bass music world. There’s at once a decidedly gangster Rap feel to the synth design, but the track returns to the high frequency, skull shattering stabs that drive audiences crazy.

Rounding out Remixed is the all-powerful Kennedy Jones. His motto is NeverNot, and his remix of “EDM” proves that, when it comes to inventiveness and innovation in the realms of dance floor destruction, he’s NeverNot on the cutting edge. This remix is nothing but Peak Set madness, the nuclear option, the red button, the 11th hour move towards audience annihilation. Kennedy Jones puts everything he’s got into his projects, and he leaves nothing out. This track goes full force, utilizing Trap beat structures and matching it against and mind-numbing synth design. It’s ballsy to say the least, but by taking his synth supersonic, he’s making a stand on his All-or-Nothing NeverNot Philosophy.

The Tracklisting for EDM Remixed is:

  1. Bear Grillz & Getter – “EDM”
  2. Bear Grillz & Getter – “EDM” (VIP)
  3. Bear Grillz & Getter – “EDM” (Protohype Remix)
  4. Bear Grillz & Getter – “EDM” (Kennedy Jones Remix)

Bear Grillz & Friends Vol. 2 http://firepowerrecords.com/bear-grillz-friends-vol-2/ http://firepowerrecords.com/bear-grillz-friends-vol-2/#comments Thu, 14 May 2015 14:12:24 +0000 http://firepowerrecords.com/?p=1497 (Los Angeles) May 14th Ready or not, Bear Grillz is back to crash the party…and he’s brought some new friends along. On June 2nd, Firepower Records will release Bear Grillz & Friends Volume 2, and together with this motley crew of rave stompers, this big beast aims to wreck shop.

The first track, “EDM”, has Bear Grillz collaborating with audio annihilator Getter. Bear Grillz is somewhat of an expert when it comes to EDM, even though he’s convinced many of his less intelligent animal compatriots EDM is a kind of candy. He is the authority on all things rave in the animal kingdom, and so it makes sense that he leads the EP with a musical odyssey through the contentious world of EDM politics.

Speaking of experts in the subject, Bear Grillz combines forces with the incredibly talented yet totally unpredictable DJ BL3ND to remind fans what it takes to “Get Down”. Returning to the Electro House roots that drove the scene into the second decade of the 21st century, the track refocuses the power of the Dubstep Wub into an Electro Anthem. For Bear Grillz, though, dancing dirty always leads to outward displays of his hypersexuality. Following “Get Down” is the irresistibly Twerkable “Bend It Over Gurl”, a scorching collaboration with recent Ninja Nation tour mate ETC! ETC! No one will ever truly know the subject of those late night conversations between Bear Grillz and ETC! ETC!, but if “Bend It Over Gurl” is the immediate audio aftermath, then it doesn’t take an incredible leap of logic to generate some credible theories. A phenomenal talent in his own right, ETC! ETC! provides his personal style and production prowess to another of Bear Grillz’ dance floor bangers.

With support from the young bass genius Trollphace, “Marijuana” rounds out the set. The track takes the classic Raggae vibe and supercharges it. It’s a style Bear Grillz has perfected, and the result is a hands-in-the-air festival anthem.

The track listing for Bear Grillz & Friends Volume 2 is:

1. Bear Grillz & Getter – “EDM”
2. Bear Grillz & DJ BL3ND – “Get Down”
3. Bear Grillz & ETC! ETC! – “Bend It Over Gurl”
4. Bear Grillz & Trollphace – “Marijuana”

Shell Shock Legends Compilation http://firepowerrecords.com/shell-shock-legends-compilation/ http://firepowerrecords.com/shell-shock-legends-compilation/#comments Mon, 06 Apr 2015 14:50:55 +0000 http://firepowerrecords.com/?p=1430 fp_shellshock_legends_art_1400px

(Los Angeles) April 6th Since its humble inception in March of 2012 by Troy Beetles—otherwise known as DatsikFirepower Records has evolved into a bass music behemoth, releasing heavyweight producers like Datsik, Protohype, Getter, Truth, Bear Grillz, Mayhem, Antiserum, Fox Stevenson, Must Die, Proper Villains, PhaseOne, Terravita, Infuze, and Fei Fei, and featuring Hip Hop royalty like KRS-One and DJ Paul KOM of Three-6 Mafia. The Firepower Family currently claims forty-four artists and counting. On May 5th, the label will celebrate an impressive milestone: the 100th release! As a show of overwhelming support for this special achievement, some of dance music’s heaviest hitters have signed on by offering tracks exclusively for the Shell Shock Legends release. The tracklist reads like a bass music “best-of” list. If Dubstep had a fantasy league, this would be a winning line-up.

But Firepower is more than a disjointed and disconnected series of artists and tracks. We like to consider ourselves more of a Family and the Shell Shock Legends release more of a family reunion. Firepower Records is a label and an internationally respected dance music brand, but it would be nothing without the like-minded artists, friends, neighbors, and fans that hold it all together and keep it alive.

Harnessing the chaos is Sharra Duggan, one of the few female executives at the helm of an international dance music label. In September of 2012, Sharra was asked by Troy jump into the fray and steer the label in the right direction. In 2013, after a number of hugely successful releases, she changed her full-time occupation to “Label Manager” and moved to LA where she resides today. She sits at the helm of one of the biggest Dubstep labels on the planet. Together, with Troy Beetles acute music sense and her gregarious personality and tenacious work ethic, Firepower has garnered an extremely loyal artist base that returns to release on the label year after year. Getter and Protohype, for example, helped establish the heavy Firepower sound that fans have grown to love. Protohype offers two tracks to the Shell Shock Legends compilation: a collaboration with Datsik and Init called “Turf Wars”, and “Recon”, a collaboration with the Australian based PhaseOne. Getter throws down, too, with a massive heater called, naturally, “The Heat”.

As the label evolves, Troy and Sharra continue to engineer a shift in how we perceive bass music. By welcoming the Trap and Hip Hop influences of artists like Antiserum and Tha Trickaz, Sub Antix, and Minesweepa, they push the often stifling Dubstep genre towards and through the edges of its know universe. “Boom”, a collaboration between Antiserum and Tha Trickaz, is a wicked look into the sound Firepower successfully integrated into the Catalogue.

Troy and Sharra are also aware that it takes new blood to sustain the Firepower movement. Arguably, one of Datsik’s most notable additions to the Firepower Family was the Bass phenom Twine, whose meteoric success has seen him rise through the ranks quickly enough to be featured prominently on festival stages and festival playlists all over the world. Twine offers up “Insanity” featuring the inimitable word-smithing of Mayor Apeshit to the Shell Shock Legends compilations, and it’s a filthy, swampy, mind-splitter.

Since 2012, Firepower Records has progressed from one release every other month or so to the release-per-week machine the label is today. In the process, Troy and Sharra cultivated and nurtured a family of artists that really loved working with the label. It became a Firepower Family, and the members ultimately devoted themselves to the label, rewarding their hard work with loyalty. Sharra’s leadership and Troy’s clairvoyance allowed the label to weather the “Dubstep is Dead” storm, not by pushing back in a futile attempt at self-validation, but by becoming a business chameleon and adapting to the changing landscape. Firepower Records outsmarted the critics by focusing on the fundamentals and the truth driving the passion.

Shell Shock Legends is all the proof you need.

Tracklist for Shell Shock Legends:

1. Datsik, Protohype & Init – “Turf Wars”
2. Antiserum & Tha Trickaz – “Boom”
3. Infuze & Proper Villains – “Galaxia”
4. Datsik – “Troynado”
5. Protohype & PhaseOne – “Recon”
6. Truth – “Break Out” (Feat. Taso)
7. Twine – “Insanity” (Feat. Mayor Apeshit)

Getter’s Inner Workings EP http://firepowerrecords.com/getters-inner-workings-ep/ Wed, 19 Nov 2014 20:41:41 +0000 http://firepowerrecords.com/?p=1243 getter_inner_workings_ep_art_1400px

LOS ANGELES (November 26th, 2014) Firepower Records will release Getter’s forthcoming EP, Inner Workings, on December 9th, and the hype surrounding this release, is, most assuredly, real.

Getter has successfully asserted himself as one of the more creative, significant, and sometimes controversial talents to emerge from the international bass scene in the last few years. A stalwart of the Firepower Records label, Getter is in the unique position to close out 2014’s release year schedule with the kind of peristaltic blast you’d expect from the label who’s put nearly every artist released this year on the Beatport Dubstep, DnB, or Hip Hop Top Ten charts—many times all at once. Inner Workings is going to blow minds.

With six original tracks and one filthy remix, Getter has produced an EP that does more than simply add to an ever growing catalog of tracks cluttering the charts. His recent remarks in an interview with Insomniac’s Bassrush show an artist with an acute sense of the politics undermining dance music, but who, despite that, has decided to forge a deliberate new path. His track “Dubstep is Dead” is a clever tongue-in-cheek response to critics who have prophesied the decline of the genre—not realizing, however, that it was Dubstep that breathed new life into the Dance music culture now thriving in United States.

Sinner” featuring the lyricist Maksim, gets an insane remix treatment by Bass music royalty Dodge & Fuski. The track explores the territory connecting Hip Hop and Dubstep, which has provided dividends recently for artists who have explored that territory. Getter hasn’t forgotten his purist fan base, though. Both “Clockwork” and “Stomp” reveal a producer who has taken his craft to the next level. Filthy synth stabs and wobbles rattle the tracks, and as Getter toggles between a series of clever beat structures, the tracks only increase in intensity and head-bangability. “Lasers” ties the tracks together by providing the sinister Dub melody and hard-as-nails chainsaw synth that sends dance floors into frenzies.

But the stand-alone track of the EP is “Stay Awhile”, which might foreshadow a new kind of Getter. It’s no secret that Getter has produced soulful future bass under an alias for a while, and this track might be an homage to that alter ego. Reminiscent of the playful productions coming out of Australia, Getter seems to be sending us away with a message of hope for the future of Bass. There’s a time to fight in the trenches, but there’s also a time to enjoy life.

The tracklisting for Inner Workings is:

1. Getter – “Clockwork”
2. Getter – “Stomp”
3. Getter – “Lasers”
4. Getter – “Sinner” (Feat. Maksim)
5. Getter – “Sinner” (Feat Maksim) (Dosge & Fuski Remix)
6. Getter – “Dubstep is Dead”
7. Getter – “Stay A While”

Jphelpz’s Living Dead EP Out 6/24 http://firepowerrecords.com/jphelpzs-living-dead-ep-out-624/ http://firepowerrecords.com/jphelpzs-living-dead-ep-out-624/#comments Wed, 04 Jun 2014 15:51:04 +0000 http://firepowerrecords.com/?p=944 Firepower has recruited a new foot soldier to the ranks, and we have every intention of deploying him to the front lines where the heaviest beats are blasting dance floors to pieces. John Phelps, AKA Jphelpz, is known for creating heavy Dubstep smashers with his own variety of robotic, mechanical sounds melded with the darker and swampier elements of bass music. On June 24th, Firepower will release his much-anticipated EP Living Dead, a four-track barrage of bass with enough artillery to awaken the once-living.

Heavily influenced by the musical styling of Getter and Funtcase, Jphelpz brings a terrifying edge to Dubstep production. The first track on the EP, “Summon the Dead”, offers a scorching pre-emptive attack on the mental faculties and continues, execution style, through “Brains”, a classic Dub collaboration with the always impressive Algorethym. The third track, “Necromancer”, is a straight buzzsaw through the braincase. Jphelpz’s emphasis on heavily mechanized synths is an obvious attempt to entrance the dead from the grave. When you get to “Living Dead”, it’s already too late. You’re trapped and have to fight your way out. It’s a fight worth having, though; the reward is a barrage of bass so heavy it will leave you zombified.

The complete track listing for Living Dead is below:

1. Jphelpz – “Summon the Dead”
2. Jphelpz & Algorethym – “Brains”
3. Jphelpz – “Necromancer”
4. Jphelpz – “Living Dead”
