The track takes no time at all sinking its hooks in by offering up a catchy vocal that eventually acts to balance out the essentially aggressive edge of the track. But the strength of this track is in the range of bass music beat structures Jarvis explores. Halfway through, the track shifts surprisingly into a filthy rolling swampy beat. RIP your neck.
With “Discotheque”, Jarvis dips back into rave history and creates a superior homage of sorts to the electronica rave anthems of the past. The top lines and melodies reflect the subtle and less intense synth arrangements of modern dubstep. Listeners can experience this track while imagining slipping into a warehouse party circa 1997. This would be a solid track to shift up the vibe of any festival set.
The title track “Hit The Deck” featuring Born I Music goes all in. This is Jarvis at his finest, and he’s created a fantasy track putting forward his best sound design techniques in one 3-minute stretch. From an 808-fuelled buildup, to insane growls and murderous synth stabs, the track is a perfect canvas for Born I Music’s vocal swagger.
Rounding out the EP is “Wait For Me” and it shows off Jarvis’ skill as a true composer. A pop hook is absolutely slayed by Jarvis’ superb synth structures. His use of a live guitar feature over a trap beat is incredibly intoxicating, and it proves his far-reaching vision. Perfect for massive festival sets.

The “80 Weight” track immediately caused a huge reaction earlier this year when Sub Antix’s released it for free download on his SoundCloud and to kick off the proceedings on the EP he has laid down a special VIP version. The VIP’s full frontal sound is an amalgamation of crisp snares, descending synths and booming 808 bass that ramps the pressure up even further. Injecting a fresh electronic angle to the pure hip hop foundation, it results in a pure dance floor slayer. Up next, he joins forces with his Canadian companion Phantasma on “Radical,” cranking things up with a double time intro that delivers the unexpected. As it drops, “Radical” dives into a low-slung beat backed by deep subs and winding synth lines.
Sub Antix always manages to find a way to combine his influences and cleverly create something fresh and stimulating. With a stream of new producers coming through, it’s clear when you’ve struck upon the real deal.

Can’t Get Enough kicks off the EP with a warm shimmering intro and shuddering bass. The brushing of a high hat is fused with a clipped vocal sample, and a skull shuddering drop that sends the blood rushing. Up next, the bass driven track ‘I Know’ is a skeptic mix of uplifting and unpretentious soundscapes, which touch upon the deeper and darker side of dubstep. DKS draws on an array of influences on ‘I Know’ with his clever use of vocal samples, and ubiquitous snares. Continuing in the flare, ‘String Theory’ immerses itself in a grimier province with its murky breakdowns and chainsaw swings. The dubstep infused wobbles and manic high hats are layered perfectly and tear through one another with booming force.
DKS builds you up during the EP’s seamless flow of musical moments and closes with the larger-than-life record ‘Monsta’. ‘Monsta’s’ dynamic foray is cleverly calculated and the crescendo will knock you senseless. The thrilling female sample and frenzied synths rip each other apart in a brilliantly cultivated manner unlike anything we’ve heard before.
DKS has been championed by BBC Radio 1 and 1xtra, as well as getting his tracks heard across the Rinse FM airwaves. Max has become known for his interesting melodies and arrangements over the past year, and has bought a breath of fresh air to the scene. This is a truly unmissable release from Firepower that once again encapsulates their essence of forward thinking at the forefront of electronic music.
]]>Today, TERRAVITA have released The Power Of Fire EP, seven deliciously wicked bass-in-your-face tracks for Datsik’s FIREPOWER label. In addition, the group will join Datsik on his national FIREPOWER tour beginning October 3 in Syracuse, NY. Beginning October 3 in Syracuse, NY, TERRAVITA will join Datsik on his recently launched national FIREPOWER Tour
The dubstep trio blazes with tracks like “Well Oiled Machine,” “No Room” and “MetROIDS.” Joining TERRAVITA on “Motive Unnecessary” is Philadelphia newcomer Shannon Swain, who provides a powerful female vocal on this hard-hitting number. There are also instrumental versions of “No Room” and “This Time Its Personal.” Every track on The Power Of Fire is a dance floor burner.
TERRAVITA was formed in 2004 when Chris Barlow, Matt Simmers and Jon Spero joined forces after meeting in the drum & bass scene in New England. Their first releases were tracks for Maldini & Vegas’ Bad Taste Recordings and Simon Bassline Smith’s Technique Recordings including the jump up hit “Adult Robot Kung Fu.” From there, TERRAVITA released several tunes with Subsonik Sound as well as a remix of AK1200’s rave anthem “Drowning” that hit #4 on the Beatport Drum & Bass Charts.
In 2010, TERRAVITA released “Up In the Club” on Beta Recordings, which hit #4 on the Dubstep charts and #94 on the Overall charts on Beatport, while “Lockdown” broke the Top 10 on Beatport’s dubstep charts. TERRAVITA released their debut EP in 2011 on Rottun featuring “Freak Out” and “The Beat Goes On” which both hit #6 on Beatport’s dubstep charts, while “Break The System” hit #2 on Beatport’s dubstep charts. TERRAVITA did it again with a remix of Tremourz & J.Rabbit’s “Sexy Party” which held down the #1 spot on Beatport’s dnb charts for over a month. The group went on to release the Dirty Rottun Scoundrels EP on Rottun Recordings. The EP was the #4 overall release on Beatport for several weeks and contained the hits “Lords & Ladies” and “Are You Ready For Me.”
Now well into 2012, this year is shaping up to be big for TERRAVITA. The group has highly anticipated remixes coming out for Steve Aoki ft Lil Jon & Chiddy Bang, Yelawolf, Zedd, Bare & Datsik and Bassnectar, and now they will unleash the heat with The Power Of Fire plus a coveted spot on the FIREPOWER Tour.
The Warborn EP is packed with 6 monster tracks full of heavy ground shattering bass that stay true to the Firepower formula. We’re glad to have Barron as a part of the Firepower crew and look forward to see him and his sound evolve with us in the future.
