Hip Hop – Firepower Records http://firepowerrecords.com Sun, 12 Nov 2023 15:14:51 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 Datsik To Release Brand New ‘Master of Shadows’ EP http://firepowerrecords.com/masterofshadowsannounce/ http://firepowerrecords.com/masterofshadowsannounce/#comments Wed, 03 Jan 2018 17:30:11 +0000 http://firepowerrecords.com/?p=3498 Los Angeles (January 3, 2018) Firepower Records is about to set the entire year of 2018 on fire with Datsik’s new EP, Master of Shadows, which will drop January 12th, the same day as the first show of Datsik’s massive 55+ date Ninja Nation Tour. These next generation bass bombs are designed to shock and awe your whole reality into an entirely new plane of existence. Despite a rigorous show schedule interspersed with 18-hour workdays in the studio, Datsik has created what could be his finest piece of work to date. Datsik has an uncanny ability to identify and cultivate talent, and this EP has some of the industry’s most innovative and productive minds collaborating on what promises to be an instant classic among his collection of chart topping records.

“Pressure Plates”, the first track of the EP, is a triumphant, beautiful, and uplifting track balanced expertly with a powerful bass line and the signature wobbles that makes a Datsik tune so immediately recognizable. “Pressure Plates” is a peak hour weapon and is designed to leave crowds melted into puddles on dance floors.

There are a few producers whom Troy is observably in awe of. One of them is Virtual Riot. Last year, Virtual Riot joined Datsik’s Ninja Nation Tour and was often spotted providing free production tutorials on his laptop for any who would listen. Rumors about his ability to produce a tune on the road and then play it out that night increased the developing mythology surrounding him. So when Troy began to tease a massive collaborative project, the bass community went haywire. “Warriors of the Night” and “Freakuency” are those tunes, and they are as sinister and pulverizing as you can imagine. The tracks bring forth a few of the motifs pervasive in both the artist’s work–the Ninja and the customs surrounding this secretive warrior class and mosh pit inducing buzzsaw synth engineering. Samplings of traditional Japanese instrumentation create eerie and distant tones, but when the Riddim-inspired bass drops, it’s an all-out assault on your psychic core.

Datsik’s ability to merge the Rap and Dubstep world are the stuff of legend, and this EP reinforces that claim. Two tracks, “Bad Behavior” and “You’ve Changed” feature show-stopping Rap lyricism, and both are festival ready. For “Bad Behavior”, Datsik teams up with Ganja White Night and lyricist T Rabb, and this particularly lethal combination is a monster dead set on ripping your sanity apart. A big, bouncy bass line rolls underneath a generous sampling of Ganja White Night’s phenomenal production potential. Scorching synth stabs ignite the tune and T Rabb’s lyricism brings it to a white-hot heat. Ganja White Night has been making a steady rise through the industry, impressing promoters and talent buyers with their incredibly diligent work ethic and professionalism. No surprise Datsik brought them in for a collab.

The young Mech Hop King JPhelpz offers up his talents for “Ronin Riddim”, and the result is a satisfyingly crunchy romp through the Riddim equivalent of feudal Japan. JPhelpz has released prolifically with Firepower Records, and his skill has increased exponentially with each record. Datsik has cultivated his unique power, and it’s clear with this tune that JPhelpz is ready to be a Ronin—a masterless samurai. The tune is heavy, perfected, precise, but it’s the clever mech sound that shines through this riddim heater.

As a grand finale, Datsik harnesses the power of Excision and Dion Timmer for a collab that is specially designed for head banging. Might as well harness the potential energy of an exploding star, because this tune’s detonation will have lasting ripple effects across the dance music universe. The history Datsik and Excision share is legendary and well documented. With Dion Timmer’s fresh vision, the tune will not be stopped.

Datsik and 1000volts to release “Monster” Remixes http://firepowerrecords.com/announcemonsterremixes/ http://firepowerrecords.com/announcemonsterremixes/#respond Wed, 06 Dec 2017 16:10:57 +0000 http://firepowerrecords.com/?p=3454 Los Angeles (December 6, 2017) Firepower Records will release the much-anticipated remixes of Datsik and 1000volts’ chart demolisher “Monster” on December 15th, and with bass music baddies Dubloadz and BadKlaat on remix duties, the tune gains in energy and force beyond our capabilities to control it. “Monster” was already a behemoth, soaring past the 1 million play mark on Spotify early into it’s release. It’s been featured on more then a dozen major playlists and continues to smash festival stages around the world. Both Dubloadz and BadKlaat have been tireless crusaders in the bass music world, forging paths with music where none dared to go by taking risks with their creativity that paid off. These remixes reveal the power of bass in our present moment by taking a classic tune, strapping on two massive riddim rockets to the sides, and hitting the ignite button.

It’s an honor to have the “Head Crush” creator himself, BadKlaat, remixing “Monster”. Hailing from Gloucester in the UK, BadKlaat was responsible for fashioning riddim into what we know of it today and championing it to its current point of prominence. Innovative is an understatement, and his skill comes through immediately on this remix. BadKlaat begins the tune with a throwback hip-hop beat, a kind of homage to the old school hip-hop roots of Datsik, Jayceeoh and Redman

As he feeds into the drop, we hear the classic BadKlaat rhythm lead the tune over the top of a cheeky riddim roller. The result is entirely devastating. This has set-list weapon written all over it.

Dubloadz has spent his career breaking barriers in the bass music game. He’s a fierce enemy of the status quo, and just when audiences think they have him figured out, he rearranges everything like a constantly re-forming labyrinth. If a true measure of a producer’s prowess is how they handle a remix, this remix of “Monster” shows an artist who is at the height of his creative genius. The remix takes on a life of it’s own spurred by an almost complete re-working of the original components. Dubloadz grafts his own style and aesthetic over the top, interspersing his quintessential audio oddities and beat signatures throughout. He took the track nuclear, and now this monster is a world-consuming leviathan.

Tracklist for “Monster” Remixes:

  1. Datsik & 1000volts – “Monster”
  2. Datsik & 1000volts – “Monster” (BadKlaat Remix)
  3. Datsik & 1000volts – “Monster” (Dubloadz Remix)

Firepower Records to Release Datsik and 1000Volts’ Single “Monster” #WEAREMONSTER http://firepowerrecords.com/firepower-records-to-release-datsik-and-1000voltz-single-monster-wearemonster/ http://firepowerrecords.com/firepower-records-to-release-datsik-and-1000voltz-single-monster-wearemonster/#respond Tue, 08 Aug 2017 14:44:13 +0000 http://firepowerrecords.com/?p=2919 Los Angeles (August 8th, 2017) – Firepower Records is thrilled to announce the forthcoming release of Datsik and 1000volts’ new collaborative single “Monster”. 1000volts is a duo comprised of hip-hop legend, Redman, and world-renowned turntableist and producer, Jayceeoh. Slated to drop August 18th, this project brings together three massively influential artists and the crafts they’ve pioneered through their careers. Datsik claims a seat in the hallowed chambers of modern Dubstep’s hall of champions, and Jayceeoh successfully transformed his notoriety as a master turntablist into a massively successful career as bass music bombardier. Redman’s epic career define the glory days of Hip-Hop, and his collaborations with Method Man and featured collaborations with Wu-Tang Clan occupy a large part of the Rap narrative in the United States. “Monster” is the result of an improbable coalescing of diverse musical characters across time and space. But that’s the state of music today: a kid from an idyllic mountain town in British Columbia can end up producing music with one of his childhood rap icons from Newark, New Jersey. In fact, one of the first records Datsik ever bought was Redman’s “Dare Iz A Darkside”. Gotta love that!

As “Monster” cranks up, Redman doesn’t skip a beat. He explodes out of the gate in a “homicidal flow”, strafing the tune with an aggressive round of potent lyrical wizardry. Redman’s signature swagger cuts through the rolling bass line, and his rapid-fire vocal cadence is reminiscent of the famous UK grime lyricists. The bridge between Rap and Bass Music is crossed all the time these days, but Datsik and Jayceeoh construct a tune that harnesses the strength of Redman’s skill, rather than detract from it. The song is still quintessentially wubby, and, like with every tune Datsik and Jayceeoh have produced, easily recognizable in style and substance. With Jayceeoh’s production aptitude added in, the track transcends any simple description, and the result is dance floor bomb, an absolutely vital set list weapon.

Firepower Records to Release MineSweepa’s Stank Breath EP http://firepowerrecords.com/firepower-records-to-release-minesweepas-stank-breath-ep/ http://firepowerrecords.com/firepower-records-to-release-minesweepas-stank-breath-ep/#respond Mon, 15 May 2017 14:32:28 +0000 http://firepowerrecords.com/?p=2815 Pre-Order Minesweepa’s Stank Breath here: https://FirepowerRecords.lnk.to/stankbreath

Los Angeles (May 15th, 2017) – Long time Firepower fam member MinesSweepa is back, and we are beyond thrilled to announce his forthcoming release, Stank Breath, which is set to drop June 2nd on Firepower Records. MineSweepa keeps himself very busy between releases, and although it’s been some time since his last EP broke onto setlists all over the globe, we can assure you that Stank Breath reveals a level of production and rage-ness that took quality time to complete. It’s clear that MineSweepa has one foot in the more diverse components of the Hip Hop game and the other in the bass music world. This EP brings both together for a decisively fresh take on the always-evolving bass music sound.

The title track “Stank Breath” starts the EP off swaggering like a MF. MineSweepa has been around long enough to see the trends in bass music come and go. He capitalizes on that wisdom by constructing a tune that goes hard both as a Dubstep tune and a filthy trap style banger. “Stitches” continues to showcase MineSweepa’s diverse musical interests and inventive mind by dipping into the global sounds of Moombahton and Bounce. “Stitches” is a straight-up dance floor destroyer, and the world beat that pins it all together is absolutely irresistible.

The third tune on the EP, “It’s Alive”, moves the listener through a series of easily recognizable samples and sound designs reminiscent of Rap tracks from the late 90’s and early 2000’s. That kind of nostalgia works well against the searing synth arrangement and heavy dubstep beat structure. “Nail Biter”, the last tune on the EP, solidifies MineSweepa as one of Bass Music’s most creative innovators. He moves from a heavy trap construction, heavily influenced by Hip Hop beat structures, to a Moombahton rager and back again. The shifting beat adds a level of complexity to the track that makes it stand out against every other release out there at the moment. This EP is the new-new fans are craving. Watch it explode during this summer’s festival season.

The Tracklisting for Stank Breath is:

  1. MineSweepa – “Stank Breath”
  2. MineSweepa – “Stitches”
  3. MineSweepa – “It’s Alive”
  4. MineSweepa – “Nail Biter”

Firepower Records to Release Pane Mua’s Dizzy Robot EP http://firepowerrecords.com/firepower-records-to-release-pane-muas-dizzy-robot-ep/ http://firepowerrecords.com/firepower-records-to-release-pane-muas-dizzy-robot-ep/#respond Mon, 10 Apr 2017 14:42:12 +0000 http://firepowerrecords.com/?p=2790 Pre-Order Pane Mua’s Dizy Robot here: https://FirepowerRecords.lnk.to/dizzyrobot

Los Angeles (April 10, 2017) – Firepower Records is set to release Pane Mua’s Dizzy Robot EP on April 28, and all we can think about is how massive these Jazz-and–experimental hip hop influenced tunes will be blasting out of the summer festival sound systems. Pane Mua offers the bass world something entirely fresh and innovative, and the risks he takes with this EP pay off. This may also be the first time we’ve released a bona fide University lecturer. Pane Mua studied at the University Of Music in Freiburg, Germany, then became a lecturer for jazz-piano and jazz-/pop-arrangement at two universities in Southern Germany. After hearing Justice’s album, Cross, for the first time, Pane Mua invested his academic knowledge of musical arrangements into the production of dance music. What we have here is something special.

The first track on the EP is “Dizzy Robot”, and there’s an immediate classic reggae vibe that is absolutely intoxicating. We’re also introduced to Pane Mua’s avatar, the Dizzy Robot, whose voice features prominently across the EP. The Mech-hop stylings of the track make this a sincerely satisfying head-nodic experience while also leaving you with a layer of filth.

“Your Memes Are $#_!” continues to push the minimal Mech sound design. There’s a solid UK hip hop vocal sample here, which flavors the tune with a grimey London gangster undercurrent. “Your Memes are $#_!” is followed up with another kind of experimental hip-hop infusion.

With “Whip Slap” and “Finnegan’s Wobble”, Pane Mua is able to meld a heavy Dub beat structure to an essentially Hip Hop tune. This kind of risk-taking pays off, and both tracks offers a decisively fresh take on how we headbang to Dubstep. “Finnegan’s Wobble” showcases Pane Mua’s academic Jazz background. A sexy Jazz riff anchors the tune over a hip-hop intro, but it builds into a massive drop and a modern bass music beat structure pummels through the rest of the track.

Lastly, “Fire (Walk With Me)” offers a comprehensive take on Pane Mua’s Hip Hop-Jazz-bass music production philosophy. It’s nearly impossible to tag a specific genre to this tune. It features a blues guitar riff, which flows into a classic hip-hop scratch session. (expo.aspe.org) The buildup feeds into a nasty mech and riddim-heavy beat structure, and the result is chaos. A very good kind of chaos.

The Tracklisting for “Dizzy Robot” is:

  1. Pane Mua – “Dizzy Robot”
  2. Pane Mua – “Your Memes Are $#_!”
  3. Pane Mua – “Whip Slap”
  4. Pane Mua – “Finnegan’s Wobble”
  5. Pane Mua – “Fire (Walk With Me)”

Firepower Records to Release Riot Ten’s Hype Or Die: Headbangerz EP http://firepowerrecords.com/firepower-records-to-release-riot-tens-hype-or-die-headbangerz-ep/ http://firepowerrecords.com/firepower-records-to-release-riot-tens-hype-or-die-headbangerz-ep/#respond Mon, 16 May 2016 14:24:33 +0000 http://firepowerrecords.com/?p=2395 Los Angeles (May 16, 2016) – Firepower Records will release Riot Ten’s new EP Hype Or Die: Headbangerz on June 3rd – just in time for the North American summer festival season. Riot Ten’s accolades in the bass music world are numerous and weighty, so by the time he released his massive single “In The Trunk” featuring the lyrical swordplay of Armanni Reign with us earlier this year, his notoriety only grew. As a self-professed Hip Hop head hailing from El Paso, Texas, he’s been at the forefront of bringing Hip Hop and Bass Music together. Now, the practice is a ubiquitous staple of producers around the planet. He has since toured the continent, rocking dance floors to smithereens, and with this EP, he’s solidified his place in the halls of bass music excellence.

The EP begins with “Earthquake” featuring Extra Terra and Born I Music. Sirens blare as a welcome or warning. I’ll let the listener decide. But when the drop hits, Riot Ten has made sure there is no getting out. Full throttle is a permanent feature of his modus operandi, though. Any fan of Riot Ten’s will know this well already. This is not a track you can settle into. You go hard straight from the intro until you’re a puddle of sweat on the floor.

Riot Ten redirects with “Evil Dead”, and pulls choice samples from the film we all know and love, which, of course is awesome. His beat structure for the track is rolling and swampy, and matches the ominous synth arrangements lurking over the top. You get the distinct sense you’re there in the cabin with the rest of the doomed victims of flesh possessing demons.

There can be no doubt that “Like Kanye”, an absolutely filthy collaboration with Rathero and featuring dub vocal stylings of Bunji Garlin, is headed for the festival main stage Hall of Fame. The track is a perfect example of Riot Ten’s diverse musical vision and his uncanny ability to forge cohesive alliances between genres. Part heavy Trap banger, part Dancehall party stomper, “Like Kanye” nails every dance nerve in the body.

Rounding out the EP is the title track, “Headbangerz”. The lyrical battleaxe Brewski puts in work here, hyping the track up to infinity. Riot Ten builds in a nasty synth growl with stabs that work like audio shockwaves applied directly to the pleasure center of the brain. With a vicious wall of sound pulsing through the track, we’d advise you to look into a good neck brace before pumping it through a sound system.

The track list for Hype Or Die: Headbangerz is:

  1. Riot Ten – “Earthquake” (Feat. Extra Terra & Born I Music)
  2. Riot Ten – “Evil Dead”
  3. Riot Ten & Rathero – “Like Kanye” (Feat. Bunji Garlin)
  4. Riot Ten – “Headbangerz” (Feat. Brewski)
