To me, being on Firepower 200 is unbelievable. I never thought I’d be signed, to begin with, let alone the label featuring one of my releases as an all-time favorite. I am honored and humbled to be a part of the label’s history!
How did you initially get involved with Firepower?
Initially, I started by submitting to the labels demo email in 2015. One day they replied saying that I had good tracks but needed to work on my mix downs. In 2017, I met Zetta online and we became really good friends and he kind of became my teacher! We then worked on our collaboration “Sedona” that was later released on Shellshock Annihilation, as my first official Firepower Records release.
Your track “I.D.” is on the release. What was the production of approach for this track like?
Honestly, I never really liked “I.D.” because I felt it wasn’t up to par with some of my other tunes at the time. I started it from playing this game Crysis. As I was playing the game, I heard a voice say “Warning” in a really cool robotic tone. The game can be fairly fast-paced, so I made “I.D.” mid-tempo. I first started the intro and built the rest entirely around that while trying to visualize the game within my sounds. The track took about 3 to 4 months to finish because I’d get writer’s block constantly on it when I went to Zetta for some help. He threw the third drop together with my sounds, then did a quick master for me.
Where do you see the future of bass music progressing and how do you think Firepower will play a part in that?
I feel that the bass music industry will definitely grow. But to be completely honest, I can’t imagine what all could happen with it in the future. With the right support and the constant releases of massive tunes, Firepower will remain as one of the best labels out there by far. I plan on sticking around for a long while, so I’ll be here to help build the label, too!
Do you have any advice to share with up and coming producers?
This is a pretty common question I get from many upcoming producers. The biggest thing is that you need a strong brand that makes you different from everyone else – something that makes you unique, but also something fans can connect with. The second thing, is you have to have music that matches your brand entirely while keeping every release constant with “your sound”. For example, Kompany uses the same methods within his work and you can hear when his track is played just by the way it flows and sounds. After that, all I’d have to say is that you have to make friends, not fans. Every supporter is family to me, so I make sure to reach out and reply to everyone I can!
What’s next for Rettchit in 2019?
I’m not quite sure what’s to come in 2019 yet, but I feel this year will be big for growth. I’ll be working extra hard on new music and hopefully giving everyone a first look at the new merch my team and I have been working on. Plus, of course, playing shows here and there with hopefully a few festivals!

]]>Firepower Records is incredibly excited to kick off 2019 with no other than our heavy hitter JPhelpz, with his brand-new project. Aptly titled ‘Maximum Damage’ EP is certain to hit the masses with some serious ammo – you’ve been warned! The five track EP packs some serious heat from start to finish that’s sure to get those senses tingling. So, proceed with caution!
Starting things off, JPhelpz showcases “BREAK YO NECK”which is very straightforward with its intentions, as you can tell from the title. With a haunting introduction that warns to proceed with caution, things take a turn for the danger zone before you’ve been able to properly grasp what’s to come. Leading straight into a pulverizing bassline, JPhelpz aims at pure destruction with a bassline that aims for blood with two drops that settle in the forefront of your subconscious, leaving you hungry for more.
Following up in proper fashion, “DAMAGE”steps up to the plate with a heavily influenced hip hop introduction that entices right from the start. Flexing with some serious mech vibes, JPhelpz stuns with an impeccable break down with a jumpy step that’s sure to get the masses rockin’ from side to side, before the bassline really sinks its teeth into you. With a second drop that settles in even better than the first, JPhelpz proves “DAMAGE” isn’t meant for the faint of heart.
Next up, “OG”brings the heat in proper JPhelpz fashion – you know what we mean here. Returning to the throne with his signature sound and aggressive buildup, JPhelpz quickly proves his talents are simply unmatched. Shedding light on a wobbly bassline that’s meant to get those booties percolating, JPhelpz keep it grimey with a heavy low-end that takes over your body before you know it. With a second drop that comes in for the kill, “OG” reaffirms his status as one of the genres biggest players.
With heavy roots in the genre of metal, it’s only proper that JPhelpz brings them to the forefront with “SUPPRESSOR”as it grips your attention right from the start with relentless guitar riffs. Aiming right from the jugular, the ominous introduction wastes little time before pulling out all the stops with a wobbly bassline paired with gnarly growls that cause some serious bass face. Leaving some breathing room between drops, JPhelpz makes sure to finish off strong with a second drop that hits even harder than the first.
Closing out the project proper, JPhelpz pulls out all the stops with “TANKED”. Hitting the ground running with another wobbly bassline, “TANKED” offers up some serious heat in the form of unrelenting bass oblivion. Serving up a flawless high energy beat, this one certainly shows off in true JPhelpz style. Moving you into another dimension of dizzy bassline aftermath, “TANKED” doesn’t let up from start to finish and showcases the infectious sound he’s known for.

]]>“Ghost Boogie” starts out strong with a powerful guitar ballad riff, an homage to the heavy rock background of Hi I’m Ghost, and it will anchor the tune through it’s insane drops and expertly crafted synth designs. But what catches the conscience of the crowd is the precision of the audio engineering. Sounds layered together create an impenetrable wall of noise that rattles guts and claims souls simultaneously. It’s festival ready and will test the integrity of whatever speakers it’s pushed through.
“Pow Pow” can go ahead and claim it’s rightful position on your setlist. An ominous buildup hypnotizes the audience, dropping them into a vicious Riddim roller all at once. What follows is complete audio annihilation, and the pulsing synth constructions are designed to instigate egregious displays of gunfinger maneuvering. As with “Ghost Boogie” the prevailing characteristic of the tune is its creativity. The track pulverizes the audience with a range of clever design techniques, which will keep crowds hooked on every sound.

]]>Starting the EP is “League” featuring Datsik, and it’s a full-on audio assault. The tune leads in with a sinister buildup and drops straight into the purifying fires a bass fueled inferno. As the track cycles through various inventive beat structures, the alternating sound designs pioneered by both Carbin and Datsik engage with each other. The experience is like listening to two phenom musicians taking turns showing audiences the range of their musical potential. The result is a tune that is always reshaping itself into bigger and bigger drops.
“Twenty-2-Life” is Carbin at his most formidable. With a euphoric topline initiating the track and a powerful sub bass rumbling guts underneath, this future classic riddim roller is designed to leave audiences in puddles. Carbin’s notorious synth stabs only feeds the frenzy, and his wall-of-sound design technique ensures a total immersion in the tune. Carbin knows exactly what he wants to do, always has, and an even more acute sense of how he wants the audience to react. “Twenty-2-Life” is study in crowd control.
Next up is “Not Your ID”, and like “Twenty-2-Life” it pumps from the bottom to the top. A heavy sub-bass undergirds the tune, carrying it along like a deep ocean swell. Carbin sustains the wave with expertly arranged synth structures and layering designs that fill the entirety of the tune. As the track crashes onto audiences on the dance floor, they’re swept away into bass bliss.
“All Night”, featuring the crown prince of bass music lyricism, Armanni Reign, slows the flow of the EP down for a sexy trap-hop hybrid. Booties will drop, and as Carbin invites us to shed our often restricted day-time personas for the creative potential of our ratchet rave avatars, we’re reminded about the importance of getting deep, down, and low.
Ending the EP is “City Lights”, and it’s a gorgeous euphoric treatment of bass-hybrid theory. Similar to “All Night”, Carbin slows the dance floor down and centers the energy of the tune on the groove centers of our consciousness. These last two tunes reveal a musical intelligence that outstretches the frame of the genres in which Carbin produces. His range is unlimited and his style is impeccable, and both characteristics will carry Carbin into the upper echelons of Bass Music’s hall of heros very soon.

]]>Los Angeles (June 26th, 2017) – Firepower Records is excited to announce the forthcoming release of Jarvis’ brand new EP, Rise of the Phoenix, and there’s really no other way to preface your experience with this record than to say you’d better invest in some fireproof pantaloons. Jarvis has emerged as one of the UK’s most formidable forces in bass music, and this EP represents a musical intellect that’s mature, sharp, refined and ready to shine in the raging fires burning at the alters of dance music.
The first track on the EP, “Rise of the Phoenix”, features the vocal wizardry of Born I Music, and his rapid-fire lyricism parallels Jarvis’ frenetic synth structures perfectly. The tune transforms into an instant crowd pleaser, offering club and festival crowds a chance to sing along before throwing themselves into fits of head banging.
Up next is “Rowdy”, and the unique UK Grime tradition of machine gun lyricism continues here, with the polymath Jarvis himself offering up his own lyrical swordsmanship. The MC is a vital part of the UK underground Dubstep phenomenon, offering audiences a more intimate and cerebral way to engage with the music. “Rowdy” sucks you right in and latches on until the beat builds into a massive, pulverizing drop. Jarvis’ storied ability to finesse sounds into an already complex and complicated tune is evidenced here, and if you’ve never conducted a tune to an audience, real or imagined, then you will with “Rowdy”.
“Walk” is an apt title for Jarvis’ next tune. As the beat rolls on, you get the impression he was imagining a massive creature swaggering like a boss down the Boulevard, wrecking anything in its path. The rolling and lolling beat structure imposes an intoxicating urge upon the listener. The tune is extremely headnodic, balancing a subtle, riddim-esque beat with the harder and more aggressive components of a Dubstep banger. A great set opener, or even a Peak Hour scorcher to get audiences riled up.
Jarvis figured out a way to add the 80’s hipster goth noir synth into his tune, “Vibrations”, and it’s perfect. Epic from the outset, the track leads the listener on a musical quest to the drop. But like any quest, there are different components, and Jarvis showcases his expertise with masterfully crafted sections that operate on our souls with a composed tenacity. It’s the kind of production skill that isn’t concerned with quantity, but quality. This track speaks volumes to that ethic.
If a producer is focused they can hook you in like a hypnotist. “Wide Awake” exemplifies this technique. The track begins with airy vocals that summon the listener like sirens from the deep. Jarvis then releases the demons with an insane riddim section simultaneously reminiscent of the underground dub plates spun in dark Surrey warehouses in the 90’s while reestablishing a connection to the big synth attitudes popular in modern Dubstep. But this track is more than that, the siren song the emerges from the depth of this tune is hypnotic, and the balance between massive sound structures with the euphoric vocalized yearnings makes “Wide Awake” an instant festival banger. Get it in your set list now!

Los Angeles (May 15th, 2017) – Long time Firepower fam member MinesSweepa is back, and we are beyond thrilled to announce his forthcoming release, Stank Breath, which is set to drop June 2nd on Firepower Records. MineSweepa keeps himself very busy between releases, and although it’s been some time since his last EP broke onto setlists all over the globe, we can assure you that Stank Breath reveals a level of production and rage-ness that took quality time to complete. It’s clear that MineSweepa has one foot in the more diverse components of the Hip Hop game and the other in the bass music world. This EP brings both together for a decisively fresh take on the always-evolving bass music sound.
The title track “Stank Breath” starts the EP off swaggering like a MF. MineSweepa has been around long enough to see the trends in bass music come and go. He capitalizes on that wisdom by constructing a tune that goes hard both as a Dubstep tune and a filthy trap style banger. “Stitches” continues to showcase MineSweepa’s diverse musical interests and inventive mind by dipping into the global sounds of Moombahton and Bounce. “Stitches” is a straight-up dance floor destroyer, and the world beat that pins it all together is absolutely irresistible.
The third tune on the EP, “It’s Alive”, moves the listener through a series of easily recognizable samples and sound designs reminiscent of Rap tracks from the late 90’s and early 2000’s. That kind of nostalgia works well against the searing synth arrangement and heavy dubstep beat structure. “Nail Biter”, the last tune on the EP, solidifies MineSweepa as one of Bass Music’s most creative innovators. He moves from a heavy trap construction, heavily influenced by Hip Hop beat structures, to a Moombahton rager and back again. The shifting beat adds a level of complexity to the track that makes it stand out against every other release out there at the moment. This EP is the new-new fans are craving. Watch it explode during this summer’s festival season.
