Traditionally, the Flatline Compilation is reserved for the filthiest tracks produced by the new future of the Bass Music movement. But to celebrate our tenth edition, we thought it fitting to tap some of our most notorious heat-slingers and have them throw down a tune for us. And they absolutely wrecked shop.
JPhelpz returns to Firepower with “International”, and he, again, proves why he might be the most versatile bass music producer in the game. From his origins in Mech Bass, to his foray into Bass House, to this deep, wonky, UK dub inspired gem, JPhelpz cannot be stopped. “International” infects your soul and takes you low.
For “Shotgun”, DJ BL3ND and Rettchit team up with the lyrical machine gun MagMag for a massive bass bomb. The tune steps firmly on your throat and pushes. This is what you get when two of the most unapologetically sinister producers come together. “Shotgun” is what the name suggests—a shotgun blast to the body.
The clever and creative musical vision of Nato Feelz never disappoints, and he comes through with “System Error”. Nato Feelz has always pushed the boundaries of bass music, and he’s never allowed himself to be boxed in. “System Error” also showcases his skill with creating cinematic soundscapes that move us to our emotional core. Let this tune transport you to some alternate headbangers Universe.
Next up is “Fission”. Chime and Jarvis have taken UK Dubstep to the next level, and while the UK gets all the credit for putting bass music on the map, we look to these two British nationals as the lads that kept the fire going. Chime’s emphasis on Euphoric, melody-forward, sound design has earned him his own niche in the bass music world. Jarvis is the heavier and more aggressive balance to Chime, and his hard as nails approach works in tandem with Chime to make for an extremely satisfying tune. Wonderfully intoxicating and perfectly chaotic, the tune is an anthem, hands down.
Rounding out the EP is Rekoil, and it’s an absolute honor to have this OG Firepower artist back in the rotation. “THOSE ARE ALIENS!” is exactly what you needed. The tune walks expertly on the border between a bass banger and Riddim roller and the result is a rail-rider’s dream. Throw this on your setlist and watch the crowd deconstruct itself.

Los Angeles (August 10th, 2017) – Firepower Records is beyond thrilled to announce the forthcoming release of UK native Chime’s Invincible EP. With a drop date set for August 25th, this EP is all the firepower you need to properly disrupt any back to school plans you may have had. Chime blasted onto the bass music scene with a string of massively successful sleeper tunes. Then, last year, he dropped an EP with Firepower that quickly became one of our most popular releases of 2016. Chime’s production prowess is immediately recognizable and cannot be disputed. Clever, creative, and always evolving, Chime takes us on an epic musical journey through the bass music soundscape. Invincible is thoroughly engrossing, entertaining, and imaginative, and one play from any of the tunes on the EP will have dance floors across the planet melting in the palms of your hands.
The EP begins with the title track, “Invincible”, and the sweeping euphoric melodies invite the listener into the audio world-building project Chime has initiated. Mixing the heavy synth growls with lighter, pluckier string constructions, the tune swings from full on head-bang sections to the airy soundscapes of windswept vistas and sun dappled horizons like a pendulum. This vibe permeates “The Big Crunch”, a tune he did in collaboration with Teminite. If Chime were a novelist he’d be a master of massive fantasy and sci-fi tomes. Masterfully crafted and infinitely complex story lines take listeners on epic quests through unforgiving sonic environments as well as gorgeous audio overlooks.
“Mindbender” pummels the listener full force, and the drop is like being released into a black hole. All kinds of musical constructions pull and push in opposing forces, and Chime’s penchant for melodic toplines push an emotional awareness on the listener as they lay suspended in space.
Chime and Holly come together in “Chronoception” which features the swaggering lyricism of Lonemoon. The vocal sections bring us back down to earth, placing us squarely into the beauty and horror of the real world. Heavy Hard House sections boost the main stage potential of the tune, while also offering audiences a chance for a singalong before slamming them in the chaos of the drop.
Then there’s “Darknet”, which takes the genre of Riddim to the next logical level. Although Riddim is known for it’s minimal vibe, Chime uses his unwavering commitment to originality and invention to boost this tune with a wall of sound so powerful, you experience the G forces as it pumps through your speakers.
Chime wraps the EP beautifully with “Terraform”, and the whole tune is a love letter to Dubstep. Chime has successfully re-introduced the beauty into the beat, urging us to recognize that music can take us across the universe. But he is also a realist, and as the track drops, he recognizes the beast in us all. The synths pulse through the cranium, causing bouts of involuntary head bangs—a kind of human impulse to seek a catharsis, to express internal rage outwardly. “Terraform” gives us exactly what we need.

Los Angeles (January 30, 2017) – Firepower Records is set to release the 5th installment of their Flatline Compilation on February 17th , and it’s stacked with some of the most talented producers currently breaking into the bass music game. Two years ago, Firepower Records released their first Flatline Compilation, and it featured the young up-and-comers Jphelpz, Aweminus, Phiso, and EH!DE. Two years later, these bass music badasses are crushing international festival stages and clubs all over the world. With talent like this rising through the ranks, the bass music establishment better stay woke—these producers are skilled beyond their years.
Chime returns to the Firepower fold with a nasty track. “Get Your hands Dirty” rolls in hard, and Chime gives us a solid melodic topline to hook the listener in. The track builds its way into the drop, but, in a sinister little move, delays the beat a count. The result is madness. Halfway through the track, Chime toggles into a Riddim beat, and the shift up is designed to unleash chaos on the dance floor.
Next, we’re proud to introduce Hi I’m Ghost, and he’s been bulldozing his way into the bass music world. “All In My Head” is a feast for anyone immediately mesmerized by the more euphoric components of bass music production. The intro is gorgeous. Suddenly, the track drops off a cliff, and the track digs its sonic claws into your head. His obvious knowledge of bass music comes through as he shifts between multiple beat structures, ultimately creating a very listenable and satisfying tune. Hi I’m Ghost is a pro, a true testament to the role of hard work and grinding constantly at perfecting the craft.
Everyone welcome Nato Feelz to the Firepower family. Right out of the gate, he makes a name for himself with “Bad Bitch”, a deeply felt Trapstyle track. At once beautiful and melodic, the track leaps into head bang territory just at the right time. A filthy sub bass rattles your guts, and just when you’ve had enough, the track reminds you of how sweet and innocent it can be.
Squaring out the compilation is another new-comer to the label, Blaqout. He’s been working hard behind the scenes and his work has paid off. “Mystic Flex” is a brilliant piece of bass music, and it reflects a solid grasp what makes a tune immediate head bang material. The track features an expertly designed synth arrangement and a sub bass that balances everything out perfectly. Blaqout’s unique sound design set’s him apart, and his music is instantly recognizable. Don’t sleep on this track.

Pre-Order Chimes From Fairies to Fire here: bit.ly/FFTFpre
We love good EP titles at Firepower Records. Tell us a bit about the title of the EP, From Fairies to Fire.
Well the EP is very much a step in the direction of a heavier sound to what people know me for, so I wanted to refer to that in the title. I also think it represents my signature style as a producer – I love to put light and dark elements together into single tracks and so the EP is named in reference to Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites” that originally inspired this style.
When it comes to producing music, do you have any work habits that you think are unusual?
I work well very late at night but I’m not sure if that’s particularly abnormal. I’ve got a feeling most producers are night owls. I go into a bit of a mode when I’m working where I shut everything out to concentrate really hard and when I stop I suddenly become exhausted like I’m having a hangover or a comedown. I guess music is my equivalent of drug use?
If a movie was made about you and your life, what famous actor would you want to play you and why?
Maybe Nicholas Hoult? He plays Beast in X-Men. I think he’d do well portray some of the weird aspects about me and he’s suitably nerdy looking.
What’s your biggest pet Peeve, the biggest thing that annoys you and why?
A lot of things annoy me! I’m actually a pretty grumpy person it turns out, although I switch between moods very quickly (a bit like my music). I’d say some of my biggest annoyances would definitely be my internet cutting out or my computer running slowly. Anything that disrupts my workflow.
What track are you jamming out to the most right now?
It’s very difficult to pick just one. I guess my Lock And Load mix should basically sum up everything I love right now but if I had to choose one track it’d have to be “Saloon” by Fox Stevenson. The catchiest Dubstep track I’ve heard in a long time!
]]>The EP begins with “Catch Up”, and it’s immediately clear why Chime stands alone in the current rank and file of Bass producers. In Chime’s world, melody is king, and he has mastered the art of balancing the euphoric and uplifting synth arrangements with face-melting buzzsaw sections. “Catch Up’ successfully showcases the diversity and range of his musical IQ. The sounds he has discovered are obscure, but they work perfectly. He arranges those sounds into beautiful harmonies, revealing the complexity of his sound design. “Operator”, the second track on the EP, incorporates both the lighter synth flutterings and flourishes Chime is so versed in creating and a series of wicked low and mid level growls. The result is a clashing of forces that forges a kind of musical sweet spot worth losing your mind to.
“Ethereal” is the gem on the EP. The track employs a deep and swampy beat structure with an arsenal of synth artillery. But listen closer. Chime’s attention to detail and his unrivalled ability to layer in euphoric elements with darker growls and stabs create a wall of sound designed to rattle the very souls of those lucky enough to be on the dance floor to experience it. Mid way through, though, Chime switches the beat structure to a glitch hop style, rolling a heavy sub bass underneath. This gives the listener just enough time to catch their breath before slamming them again with the bone crushing Swamp.
“From Fairies to Fires”, the title track of the EP, takes off at a thousand miles and never slows down. If ever there was an “Amen” track—the kind of track that makes the audience raise their hands skyward and proclaim the glories of bass—it’s this one. Dance music has always been a sort of cleansing experience. With this track, Chime gives us a chance to be reborn through the fire of his production prowess.
