(Los Angeles) February 19th Firepower Records is happy to announce the forthcoming release of Bar9 and PhaseOne’s scorching new single “Why They Need Us” scheduled to drop on March 3rd. As Dance fans in the Northern Hemisphere march steadily on towards festival season, ears become more attuned to tracks that are designed for massive stages and tailored towards the utilization of hundreds of thousands of watts of sound. While “Why They Need Us” takes its inspiration from the dystopian graphic novel turned cult classic V for Vendetta, the question will ultimately confront heavy hitting DJ’s all over the planet. The track is a peak hour free-for-all, designed to ignite dance floors. After one listen to this track, “Why They Need Us” will seem like less of a question and more of an imperative. You’re going to need this track.
“Why They Need Us” begins with the kind of cinematic sound-scaping so reminiscent of the classic Trance tracks of the past. The effort at mood-setting is effective, because as the track firmly closes it’s fist around our heart-strings, we are blasted with mind-splitting buzzsaw synths that seem to sever our minds from our bodies. “Why They Need Us” toggles back and forth between a hard Electro 138+ BPM and a classic Dubstep arrangement. Both Bar9 and PhaseOne are extremely attentive to detail, and the sound design throughout the track is meticulous and precise. This collaboration wins on so many levels. It is a foregone conclusion that this track will feature prominently in set lists around the world throughout the summer and in to next year.
BAR9 are something of a formidable force in the Dubstep scene. Ollie and Martin burst onto the scene in 2008 with early works such as ‘Midnight’ and ‘Untitled Symphony’ grabbing attention across the globe. Their unmistakably polished level of production was soon in high demand, as they delivered a series of remixes for the likes of Example, Nero, Foreign Beggars and Noisia to name a few.
Sydney based producer PhaseOne has asserted himself as one of the most consistent and significant talents to emerge from the Australian bass scene in the last few years by making a name for himself internationally with an onslaught of head-turning original productions and remixes. His punk and hardcore roots can be heard in his guttural synths, catchy chords and soaring leads.
